KidCare is a state run program for parents of school age children working in conjunction with the school districts to provide affordable medication to children (Grades K-12).

Project Overview
The cost of healthcare has been on the rise for a long time, and medication is one of many items impacted by these costs. Some medications are too expensive for parents of school age children to afford.

The KidCare program is a state run program, instituted through the school districts to help provide low-cost or free medication to children in grades K-12.

Key Challenges and Contraints
Working within the structure of the health care system in conjunction with school districts in Florida, a responsive website and mobile app were designed. Keeping in mind that many individuals will be using a mobile app to apply and access information, the app was designed to make it easier for parents and gardians to appliy for the program and access prescription medication for their children through the app.

2
Define Tasks
The tasks needed to be separated into their own flows to avoid jumping around
3
Child Profile
Adding a child profile would make it easier to see medication for each child separately
Based on the feedback from the usability studies, I simplified the home screen so that there would be two main actions. To get started users either need to apply for an account, or login if they’re an existing member.

After

After logging in, users expressed the need to have a way to select a child profile and manage prescriptions from there.

Project Takeaways
What I learned
This was an exciting project regarding a topic I feel passionate about. Initially, the process seemed complicated and I wanted to make sure it was simple. User research and competitive audits helped me to find a simpler user flow and user experience.
Next Steps
1
Add a chat option for users to interact with an advisor.
2
Include useful tips for child healthcare.
